The papers addressed to this session are expected to enlighten questions related to the interaction between smart technologies and studies in Climatology. The collection of data for climate variables, atmospheric processes and air quality depends on implementation of wide range of different kind of smart equipment. It is represented by different sensors, displays and computing devices which have the capability to networked each other and beyond, to be self-organized, to provide services and to manipulate or publish complex data through the Internet. Smart technologies provide the user’s information for better understand and control on the observed phenomena. Use of geoinformation technologies for processing and analyzing the increasing flow of data provide new knowledge about the spatial and temporal features of the climate system. Various web-based applications increase significantly the access to scientific information and enhance the public awareness to the current environmental issues related to air quality and climate change and theirs effect on the living environment and human health. We are challenged now to understand how the use of smart technologies change our understanding about climate and how to apply theirs capacity in different climate actions for mitigation and adaptation to the observed changes.

We aim in this session to bring together scientists to discuss theirs achievements  on different aspects of climatology like :

• Climate change
• Climate extremes
• Climate change adaptation and mitigation
• Climate information and communication
• Climate change, living environment and human health
• Air quality
• Web-based climate applications

The session is co-organized by the Bulgarian Society of Medical Geography.
